Hospital-grade suction you can wear under your clothes
The Elvie Stride is a hands-free pump with light cups in your bra and a small hub clipped to your waistband. Keeping the motor in the hub lets it reach up to 300 mmHg, a level Elvie calls hospital-grade.
Strong enough to pump with every day, light enough to forget you’re wearing it.

Is the Elvie Stride right for you?
Best for
- Exclusive pumping or a daily routine that needs strong suction
- Moving around the house or office while you pump
- Moms who want light cups, with no motor sitting on the breast
- Adjusting suction from your phone or straight from the hub
Maybe not for
- Anyone who wants nothing outside the bra: the Elvie Pump has no tubes or waist hub
- Long sessions at a desk or bedside: a tabletop like the Spectra S1 Plus gives you a screen and a night light

What sets it apart: the hub
Most wearables carry their motor in the cup. The Stride moves it to a small hub clipped to your waistband, with thin tubes up to each cup.
That trade buys you two things: suction up to 300 mmHg, and cups that weigh about 0.3 lb and sit only 2.5 inches deep, so they look natural under a top.
Run it your way
- Two modes
- Stimulation to start your let-down, Expression once milk flows, each with 10 intensity settings.

Questions moms ask about the Elvie Stride
How strong is the Elvie Stride suction?
Up to 300 mmHg, Elvie says, with 10 intensity settings in each of its two modes (Elvie’s manual lists a range of 35 to 300 mmHg). That is a higher maximum than the Spectra S1 and S2, which list 270 mmHg, and than the Elvie Pump at 220. Compare maximums only; a higher number does not mean a pump empties better.
How do you assemble the Elvie Stride?
Assembly takes six main steps, from Elvie’s manual. 1. Slide the hub into the cover and pull the short end of the clip through its slot. 2. Push the hub connector firmly into the hub. 3. Push the valve and diaphragm onto the breast shield. 4. Work the diaphragm rim over the shield lip so it sits flush. 5. Push the breast shield and cup front together until the cup seal is covered by the frosted lip. 6. Check the diaphragm is completely dry, then push the cap into the cup front. Connect the tubes last.
How do you clean the Elvie Stride?
Rinse in cold water, wash in warm water with mild dish soap, rinse for 10 to 15 seconds and air dry, or use the top shelf of the dishwasher, Elvie’s manual says. Clean after every use and sanitize once a day, for example by boiling for 5 minutes. The hub, cap, tubes, tube splitter, cover and clip are not washable: wipe them with a damp cloth and keep them dry.
What parts does the Elvie Stride have, and when do they need replacing?
Six washable parts: the breast shield, stopper, cup front, diaphragm, valve and cup seal. Elvie rates the washable parts at about six months, and the hub at about 500 hours of use, and says to replace the washable parts after long storage or before the next baby. Replacement parts are sold at elvie.com; call or message us if you are not sure which one you need.
What breast shield size does the Elvie Stride use?
Two 24 mm breast shields come in the box. Elvie sells 21 mm and 28 mm shields separately, plus 15, 17 and 19 mm nipple cushions. To check fit, put the shield on with the sizing symbol facing up and line the fit lines up with the outside of your nipple. The What’s Included tab has Elvie’s sizing chart.
How long does the battery last?
About five 30 minute sessions per charge, Elvie’s manual says, and Elvie’s site says nearly three hours of pumping depending on your settings. A full charge takes about 2 hours, and the hub will not pump while it charges. Elvie’s Amazon page lists 95 minutes to charge, so expect somewhere between.
How loud is the Elvie Stride?
36 dB, according to Elvie’s Amazon page. elvie.com calls it “ultra-quiet” and gives no number.
Is the Elvie Stride hospital grade?
Elvie calls the Stride hospital-grade and says its suction is comparable with, and in some cases higher than, other hospital-grade pumps, while noting it is a single-user pump. We do not make that claim ourselves; we describe the pump by its published 300 mmHg.
Can I use the Elvie Stride lying down?
No. Elvie’s manual says not to use the Stride while lying down; sit or stand in a standard nursing bra, with the cups pressed firmly against your breasts. When you pause or stop, lean forward so the milk drains from the nipple tunnel into the cup.
Is the Stride really hands-free if it has tubes?
Yes. The cups sit in your bra and the hub clips to your waistband, so both hands stay free. The tubes are thin and run under your top.
Is this the Elvie Stride 2?
No, this is the original Elvie Stride. It comes with 24 mm breast shields; 21 and 28 mm shields and 15, 17 and 19 mm nipple cushions are sold separately. The What’s Included tab has Elvie’s sizing chart.
