Elitone: at-home pelvic floor therapy for bladder leaks

Elitone is an external pelvic floor trainer, FDA-cleared to treat stress urinary incontinence in women: the leaks that come with a cough, sneeze, laugh or workout. A GelPad worn like a pad does the pelvic floor work for you, no insert.

Because “just do your Kegels” is easier said than done with a newborn.

Is Elitone right for you?

Best for

  • Leaks when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift or exercise
  • Moms at least 6 weeks after birth, with your doctor’s OK
  • Anyone who finds Kegels hard to do right or to keep up

Maybe not for

  • Pregnancy: don’t use Elitone while pregnant or trying to conceive
  • A pacemaker or other electronic implant, or heart problems
  • Practicing Kegels yourself with app feedback: see the Elvie Trainer
Elitone is completely external: the GelPad sits against your skin like a pad and the controller clips to your waistband

How Elitone works

  1. Stick the GelPad on your skin around your pubic bone, where a pad would sit.
  2. Connect it to the controller, turn it on and set a comfortable level.
  3. Get dressed and go about your day. After 20 minutes it turns itself off.

Each session gently contracts your pelvic floor muscles 100 times. Most women feel a tingle where the GelPad touches the skin and a tightening inside.

Why moms choose an external pelvic floor trainer

Nothing inserted
No vaginal probe. The GelPad stays on the outside, and it won’t pull hair.
Does the work for you
Stimulation contracts the right muscles, so you don’t have to find them yourself.
Wear it while you multitask
Fold laundry or answer email during a session.
No app needed
A small rechargeable controller with simple buttons.
Elitone recommends 20 minutes a day, 5 times a week, for 6 or more weeks

Questions moms ask about Elitone

How soon after birth can I use it?

Elitone recommends waiting 6 weeks after you deliver. Ask your doctor if you’d like to start sooner.

How long until I see results?

Elitone suggests 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for about 6 weeks. In its study, 95% of women had fewer leaks and leaks dropped 71% on average. After that, many women cut back to occasional sessions.

What if my leaks come with a sudden urge to go?

Elitone is cleared for stress leaks and may also help mixed leaks. If you only have urge leaks, Elitone makes a separate device, Elitone URGE. Your doctor can help you tell the difference.

How long do the GelPads last?

Each GelPad can be reused at least 3 times, or until it stops sticking. The 10 in the box are meant to cover the first 6 weeks.

Can Elitone be covered by insurance?

Sometimes. Elitone is billed as a pelvic floor stimulator, and coverage depends on your plan. It usually needs a prescription and notes from your provider, and we work directly with your provider to get them. Call us and we’ll check your plan before anything ships.

Caring for your GelPads

  • Reuse each GelPad at least 3 times, or until it stops sticking.
  • Trim hair if needed for good skin contact. Most women don’t need to shave.
  • Stick to one session a day. More use can tire the muscles and irritate dry skin.
